Nectar Rivalry, colored pencil on watercolor paper. This conceptual illustration demonstrates how an invasive ant species is threatening fragile forest ecosystems on Mauritius by stealing nectar from Roussea simplex plants, which are primarily pollinated by the blue-tailed day gecko (Phelsuma cepediana). Without pollination by these geckos, this endangered shrub is pushed further towards extinction.
